ABOUT IN STITCHES YORKSHIRE

In Stitches Yorkshire is run by me: Bev Mattocks. I make all my products from scratch, using upcycled materials wherever possible.

Bev Mattocks

I'm Bev Mattocks and I live in Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK. I set up In Stitches Yorkshire during Covid making facemasks, Christmas bunting and upcycled jeans aprons which I sold on Etsy. As time went on, I became particularly interested in the environmental story - of upcycling all kinds of materials, from denim jeans and jackets to other fabric, zips, buttons, you name it!

More recently, following my retirement, I found myself specialising in bags and pouches of various shapes and sizes made from upcycled denim jeans - a great way to be creative not just with jeans fabric, but all the other bits and pieces like pockets, zips, waistbands, buttons, etc.

The Tilda-style fabric dolls developed as a result of a Tilda doll I made for a friend who was going through a tough time. I went on to develop my own version of the classic Tilda art doll: smaller, slimmer and more dainty than the original Scandinavian Tilda design. The upcycling story continues with many of these dolls: tiny jeans jackets and jeans are made from upcycled denim shirts - a lighter-weight denim fabric more suitable for dolls' miniature clothes!

In 2025, I started doing craft fairs and makers' markets in Yorkshire. Then in 2026 I set up a Facebook page where you can catch up with all my latest In Stitches Yorkshire news along with any craft fairs which are in the pipeline.
